6-9-23 THOUGHTS
Our morning thoughts begin with a powerful invitation from Christ! The invitation echoes a prophecy from God’s Spirit to Isaiah. Taken together, they form a nugget of truth that man must not miss! “WE MUST LISTEN THAT WE MIGHT LIVE!” This is active listening that believes, and acts out that belief in a life lived! The rest is much more than a relaxing, it includes a rejuvenation! We have discussed a “restorative repentance” in our Wednesday evening class, this is a restorative rest! The word REFRESH is used by one Greek commentator. We must also absorb the idea that this is a continual thing in our lives. We are continually coming because we are continually needing. I love the offer in Isa 55:2b, “Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance.”
Matt 11:28-30 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
Isa 55:1-4 "Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk Without money and without cost. 2 "Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. 3 "Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, According to the faithful mercies shown to David. 4 "Behold, I have made him a witness to the peoples, A leader and commander for the peoples.
Matt 4:19 And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
Matt 19:21 Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
John 7:37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.”
John 10:10b I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
My Prayer:
Teach us, O God, to clearly and rightly see what matters as we live. Help us at every turn to discern Satan’s Lie, and come to You with our all. May we always abide in Your presence. May we hear Your voice as we absorb your Word. Increase our faith and give us Your Spirit. Help us to live boldly, and meaningfully and powerfully in our service to You. No more casual Christianity, O God. May we truly come and carefully listen. May we follow in the truest sense of the word. Help us to be good sheep. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
